Apple blossom beetle has awakend
Last Wednesday, we knocked the first apple blossom beetles on FRC Randwijk. The numbers varied per planting from 0 to more than 25 per 100 knocks. For the trial, we therefore decided to start combating the pest as soon as possible in integrated cultivation (this is not possible in organic cultivation, as Raptol has not yet been exempted in the Netherlands). The beautiful weather in recent days provided ideal conditions for pest control.
The apple blossom beetle has been a problem at FRC for years, so every effort is being made to keep it under control. To do this, we are also looking at alternative control options. One of these is Surround, which is why it will be tested again this year (as in previous years)
