Launch of the Sustainable Winegrowing Project
The KoM project ‘Sustainable Winegrowing’ was launched on 1 February, a collaboration between WUR Randwijk, the Association of Dutch Wine Producers and the Association of Winegrowers of the Low Countries.
Through this project, we are working to further strengthen the Dutch winegrowing sector. The focus is on developing and sharing practical knowledge regarding sustainable crop protection, soil health and climate-adaptive cultivation. The sector is rapidly evolving and growing, creating an increasing need for accessible, practical knowledge. Within this project, we translate scientific insights into concrete tools for growers, advisors and other stakeholders.
In the vineyard, we focus, among other things, on the control of Drosophila suzukii and major fungal diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, botrytis and black rot. We also address topics such as warning models and sustainable soil management. With this project, we are taking the next step together towards future-proof and resilient viticulture in the Netherlands.
