Research on Pear Scab

In the coming years, WUR-Randwijk will continue research on pear scab. During the winter months and spring, the development of ascospores on fallen leaves is monitored. After a long dry period, the first ascospore release from pear leaves was observed on March 24. With the start of the scab season, Darren Hastabrata, a student from HAN (Nijmegen), has begun an internship focused on pear scab. During his internship, Darren will study the germination of pear scab spores. The results of his research will play an important role in optimizing the pear scab warning model.
