HydroSoilWise
The HydroSoilWise project will start this year (2025) at FRC Randwijk. This project focuses on water and soil, two key aspects for the future of fruit growing. As part of the project, a demonstration will be set up in the newly planted pear orchard. This plot is divided into different irrigation zones and allows for controlled drainage, which will be utilized in the demo. Over the next three years, the demo will focus on efficient water management, the potential of controlled drainage, and the benefits of fully automated irrigation. Using moisture sensors and autonomous control, the project will assess whether optimal water use can increase yields. Controlled drainage will help retain more water before a dry period, potentially reducing irrigation needs. The goal is to reduce water usage while maximizing efficiency to improve production.
