End Symposium The Next Fruit 4.0
On March 19, the final results of the The Next Fruit 4.0 project were presented at FRC Randwijk by WUR and Delphy. Over the past four years, together with numerous consortium partners, technological developments have been explored to contribute to more sustainable and efficient fruit growing. In the cultivation phase, work has focused on precision spraying technology for crop protection and optimizing thinning. For robotic harvesting, a specialized gripper for Conference pears was developed, marking a significant step forward. Additionally, non-destructive technology was applied to assess freshly harvested Conference pears. Using stock bin photography, fruit size and weight estimations were made, while models for the Fresco by Vertigo were developed to determine individual fruit firmness and Brix value. Factsheets for most sub-studies have now been published and can be found under Publications at: https://www.wur.nl/nl/onderzoek-resultaten/kennisonline-onderzoeksprojecten-lvvn/kennisonline/the-next-fruit-4.0.htm
