Fruit Rot Trial Pear – Sorting Soon
Fruit rot control in apple and pear will change in the coming years. Think of the discontinuation of Switch and Geoxe/Safir in 2026. But also the restriction of our Captan label and pressure on the application of Penbotec. In addition to lobbying and innovation efforts within Fruitvooruit, CAF and FC have been responding to this by collaborating for several years on new strategies for fruit rot control in pear. Under the leadership of Ferdy Tolhoek (CAF), we are aiming each calendar year—based on legislation and the best results from previous research—for a new scheme.
Within classical chemistry, more focus is placed on Bellis and Scala. But also on postharvest applications with 1-MCP. Within a broad range of green products and plant strengtheners, the key is especially to “cleverly combine” the various mechanisms of action. The Conference pears from 2024 have been stored for a long period. We hope to sort them on June 11, with more details to follow.
