Harvest impression of newly harvested varieties at FRC Randwijk

Currently, the pome fruit harvest is also taking place at FRC Randwijk. By now, several, mostly newer, early varieties have already been harvested. At the time of writing this newsletter, the following varieties have been harvested. In addition to the new varieties, a large number of trials and demonstrations are currently being harvested on the existing varieties Elstar and Conference.

Variety P

Harvest date: 07-08-2025

This dark red pear variety under number, together with Qtee, is the earliest ripening pear variety at FRC Randwijk. The still young trees carried a full crop with a good fruit size of 70–90 mm.

Harvest date: 07-08-2025

This red pear variety has been at FRC Randwijk since 2015. The yields are annually around 50–55 tons/ha. Due to a moderate number of flower buds, production was somewhat lower this year.

Harvest date: 19-08-2025

This red pear variety has been at FRC Randwijk since 2015. The yields are annually around 50–55 tons/ha. In 2025, a yield of 63 tons/ha was achieved.

Red Conference

Harvest date: 20-08-2025

This red pear variety has been at FRC Randwijk since 2019. Production is increasing every year, but still lower than the green Conference. In 2025, a yield of 43 tons/ha was achieved.
